Markkinakuulumisia - From the fair

Olikin muuten ihan järkyttävän hyvät markkinat. Oli ihanaa tavata ihmisiä ja osaa vielä niin pitkästä aikaa. Upeita juttuja olivat taiturit tehneet. Minä jouduin pitämään erittäin tiukkaa budjettia, mutta jotain sentään lähti kotiin mukaan.

The fair was so much fun! It was lovely to meet people, some of whom I had not seen for ages and ages. The quality of the work people had made was amazing! I had to keep a really tight budget, but managed to bring a couple of things home.

Ihana. Aivan ihana. Tarun nukke lähti mukaan, vaikka ei ollenkaan pitänyt ja olen niiiiin tyytyväinen. Hän on vielä vähän kummissaan paikan vaihdoksesta, mutta alkaa asettua.

I love my new doll from Taru at Primadoll. She is so beautiful. She is still a bit overwhelmed by the change of scenery, but she is getting to know the area and folks just fine.

Tämä voisi olla yhden uuden projektin lähtökohtakuva. Tästä lisää joskus toiste. Tyynyt ja laatikot Susannalta (Susannan Etsy-kauppa) ja upea kangas Tarulta.

Ilokseni huomasin, että Kristian Lundqvistilta on tullut uusi tuolimalli. Tosi hieno ja jämäkkä. Uusi iso vitriinikaappi jäi kummittelemaan mieleen. Joku toinen kerta sitten. Tykkään näistä ihan sikana ja väri on ihan täydellinen. Tyynyt Suskilta sekä rappu, kannu, peitto ja porras Tarulta.

There's a new style of chair from Kristian Lundqvist in just the perfect colour. The pillows are from Susanna and the rest is from Taru.

Mutta entäs sitten se kirja! Oijoijoijoijoijoi! Maria on tehnyt aivan mielettömän suuren työn ja kirja on todella kaunis. Toistaiseksi olen vain katsellut kuvia ja ohjeita, mutta tänään pääsen lukemaankin tätä. Kiitos Maria! Ihana, ihana juttu.

Maria Malmström has made a dollhouse book filled with gorgeous photos of her house Väinölä and fantastic tutorials. The book is in Finnish, but I think there's lots and lots of inspiration and information to be found from the pictures too. This is such a wonderful thing!

Siivoamista, just joo - You call it cleaning?

Juupa juu, huovuttaa piti, mutta aloinkin raivata. Kun alkaa raivata, tekee löytöjä. Minä löysin puolivuoltuja keittiövehkeitä ja viimeistelin ne. Löysin myös nuo aikoja sitten tekemäni tuolit. Ovat jotenkin niin liikuttavia. En raaski heivata pois sitten millään. Se on myös raivaamisessa vaarana, että projektit alkavat kaihertaa mielessä enemmän ja enemmän. Miten käy huovuttamisen? Onneksi markkinoihin on vielä aikaa. Menen siis piiitkästä aikaa Forssaan Vanhanajan lelumarkkinoille. Jee!

I was supposed to needlefelt, but started to go through stuff. When that happens, there's discoveries. I found half-carved kitchen utensils and finished them. I also found some chairs I've made ages ago. They look so... clumsily cute. I cannot throw them away. What also happens when one is going through things is that projects come alive in one's head. But what about the needle-felting? Well, luckily there's time, weeks. I'm selling my work on a fair at the end of July, Old time toy fair at Forssa. Yay!

Sipuleita kerhossa - Onions at the club meeting

Meillä oli siis nukkekotikerhon tapaaminen viime torstaina. Sain melko hienosti siivottuakin. Teimme helpolla tavalla sipuli- ja valkosipulilettejä. Intouduin muokkaamaan Katilta saamaani kaappia ja voi miten siitä tulikin juuri sopiva Pirtin keittiöön. Muhkeat sipulini roikkuvat siinä ovessa. Aika hämärää vielä näin kevätiltaisin...

  We had our dollhouse club meeting at my place last Thursday and we made onions and garlic in a very easy way. And I managed to tidy the place a bit too. I painted the cupboard I've received from Kati a long time ago and it turned out perfect for the Pirtti kitchen. I'm so pleased. It's still rather dark here in the evenings. We did have the first real Spring day today though. Thank goodness!

Tässä vielä kaappi "uutena" vihreiden maalikerrosten kanssa. Sittemmin suttasin sitä ja hioin vaaleansinistä esille hiukan. On se jännä, että aina pitää vähän kuluttaa kaikkea ennen kuin se näyttää hyvältä minun silmissäni.

  Here is the cupboard as "new" with a bunch of green layers. I smudged it a bit and distressed it to show some of the pale blue from beneath and added the flowers of course. I wonder why I need to make things look old before I like them.

Melkein valmis - Almost there

Sängynpeitto on jo tarpeeksi pitkä, mutta leveyteen se kaipaa vielä pari riviä. Värit ovat tässä kuvassa hiukan terävät, mutta tämmöinen siitä tulee. Tähän taloon tulee muuten kissoja asumaan.

The bedspread is long enough now, but needs a couple of more rows to make it wide enough. The colours are slightly sharp in this photo, but you can see how the bed works with the chair. This house will have cats, by the way.


Makuuhuone on tämän kokoinen. Taakse tulee vielä kirjahylly ja yöpöytä, jolle tulee Cillan ihana kaniinilamppu, ooh. Sain selville, että Teehuoneen rouva on käsityöihmisiä. Hän myös ompelee paljon ja mielellään, kunhan saan koneen pölykerroksen pyyhkäistyä ja nauhan kuntoon.

The bedroom will be a bit like this. I'll add a bookshelf and a bedside table and there's going to be Cilla's gorgeous rabbit lamp on the table there. It's so pretty! I found out that the lady of the Teahouse also makes clothes. I just need to wipe the dust off the machine and fix the belt.


Rouvan olohuoneeseen hakeutuu nyt mallailuvaiheessa valkoisia kalusteita, mutta tiedä häntä. Väri sitten mulla aina kuitenkin voittaa.

The livingroom gathers white furniture now, but I don't know. I like white in principle, but I always end up liking colour more.


Alakertaan ei tule kauhean asiallista myyntitiskimeininkiä kuitenkaan. Vaihdan tuon sivuhyllyn aivan toisenlaiseen ja tuota tiskiä pitää vähän fiksata. Peililipasto voisi periaatteessa olla vaikka tässä huoneessa. Se on älyttömän iso. Mattoja en taida kuitenkaan paljon laittaa, mutta tuo tuolisohva on minusta hyvä täällä. Alakuvassa keittiön puolelle tulevat leipätiski ja kakkukaappi.

I'll take off the white shelf and use a different one here and fix the display cabinet a bit. I like the chair-bench here a lot and the mirror thing in the back too. It's rather big though. I think I will not use too many carpets in the end anyhow. In the picture below you'll see the bread display and the cake fridge in the kitchen.

Syrjähyppy - Side lining

Teehuoneen rouva tarvitsi makuuhuoneeseensa pehmeän nojatuolin, jolla lukea ja miksei vaikka virkata niitä loputtomia sängynpeittojaan... ;o). Kiitos kovasti kannustavista peittokommenteista.
Sain aika pitkän aikaa sitten Marjutilta valkealla päällystetyn, vähän repsahtaneen nojatuolin. Jo silloin ajattelin tehdä siihen ainakin irtopäällisen, mutta nyt kävin tuoliin käsiksi oikein kunnolla. Sain palaset erilleen ihan repimällä ja päädyin vain päällystämään tuolin uudelleen, en vaihtanut edes perustoppauksia, vähän vaan käsinojiin kokeilin lisäfyllinkiä. Tuo ihana vihreäpohjainen kukkakangas on kirjailtua silkkipohjaista nauhaa. Taustalla on kultakirjailtua jäykähköä silkkikangasta.

The Teahouse lady needed a padded armchair for hed bedroom to read in. Maybe that's where she crochets the endless bedspreads too... ;o). Thank you so much for the lovely comments on that.
I received a bit ripped white chair a long time ago from Marjut. I thought of making a loose cover for it, but as I noticed I could rip the parts apart I decided to cover it as parts and then glue together. I used the original padding and added just a bit for the armrests. The flower-fabric is embroidered silk ribbon. I love it and am so happy I could use it for a miniature project. I used gold-embroidered stiffer silk for the back.

Puolimatkassa - Half way through

Sen vaan sanon, että kärsivällisyys kasvaa tämän sängynpeiton kanssa (olen hyvin tietoinen, että on vielä kymmenen kertaa hitaampia hommia...). Tämä tulee teehuoneen rouvalle. Olen sahannut sängyn päädyn vuosia sitten Tuulalla. Saimme Kuopion kerhossa kokeilla hänen kuviosahaansa. Kokosin ja maalasin sen Hämeenlinnassa edellisessä asunnossa. Täällä saan kalusteen toivottavasti valmiiksi asti. Noihin päätypuihin tulee sellaiset aivan tietyt kävyt koristeiksi (niitäkin olen hakenut jo ainakin kolmeen otteeseen Tiiriön mäkkärin havuista ja hukannut) ja tuohon päätyyn haluan jotain koristetta, mutta en vielä tiedä mitä. Patjan ompelin tänään ja nyt pähkäilen, miten viimeistelisin sen. Nappeja, näkymättömiä pistoja, solmupistoja taikka vaikka solmittuja lankoja. Jotain nyt kuitenkin on siihen tulossa.

I'm learning patience with this afghan. It will be a bed spread for the tea house lady. I made the bed parts years ago in Kuopio, when the local club visited Tuula and we were allowed to use her fret saw (I hope I'm using the right word). I put the bed together and painted it in our previous home here in Hämeenlinna and maybe I'll finish it here. There's going to be cone decorations on the poles (I've picked them at least twice and lost them on the way) and I hope to decorate the end somehow too. I sew the mattress today. Haven't decided yet how to finish it, knots or buttons or invisible stitches, but there's going to be something more going on with it too.

Verhoiluharjoitus - Upholstery experiment

Sain Heleenalta aarteen, palasen vanhaa, kaunista kirjailua. Tämä on joskus palvellut kukkarona tai semmoisena pikkupikkulaukkuna. Halusin tehdä kolmesta tuolista soffapenkin teehuoneeseen. Reunimmaisten oli tarkoitus olla samanlaisia, mutta toinen osoittautui maanantaikappaleeksi ja tein siitä vähän erilaisen. Keskimmäisestä poistin etujalat, jotta tuolit mahtuivat paremmin vieretysten. No, vähän viiksottaa tuo verhoilu, vaan eikös ole silti aikas ihana. Idea on bongattu Pinterestistä, ihan oli oikeaan kokoon tehty vastaava, muistaakseni raitakankaalla verhoiltuna.

I received a wonderful gift from my friend, Heleena. It used to be a purse, lovely old and tiny embroidery. I wanted to make a sofa bench from three chairs. The ones on the sides were supposed to be the same, but one of them was a lot rougher than the other, so I carved funny little hearts there. I took the front legs off the middle one to fit the chairs better. Well, the cover is a bit here and there again, but isn't it just lovely? I got the idea from Pinterest. There was a bench like this in real size, with a stripey cover if I remember right.


Maalaan tuolit varmaankin kaikki erivärisiksi. Mietin keltaista ja kahta liilan sävyä, mutta voipi mennä johonkin toiseenkin suuntaan. Turkoosikin voisi piristää. Tuosta kankaasta saa vielä vaikka mitä. Ai että! Ihana aarre. Alakuvassa mallailin tuolia teehuoneeseen. I think I'll paint the chairs in different colours, perhaps yellow and two shades of lilac. Even turquoise might be good, more cheerful. I'll be able to use the fabric to make other things too. Such a great little treasure! In the bottom photo the waiter behind the chair by Maria, the table by Christian Lundqvist and the beautiful little purse that opens and closes from Cilla at Minst. The carpet pattern is by Maija-Leena Autio.

Verhoilua - Upholstery

Nonnis, tämmöinen tuli. Tein soffaan silkkipäällisen tilkkutyönä. Tykkään, vaikka se näyttääkin aika orvolta tyhjennetyn Fauniuksen olkkarissa. Talohan on nyt suunnilleen tyhjä, jotta saisin sitä rakennettua.

Well, this is how it looks like now. I made a silk patchwork to cover the sofa. I like it even though it looks a bit lonely in the empty livingroom of Faunius. The house is empty to make it easier to finish.


Takapuolella on vain tämmöinen ruutukangas. Voisin vielä miettiä tuohon runkoon jotain maalaushommelia.

The backside is like this. I'm thinking of maybe painting the structure a bit.


Ja näin tämän tein. Kangaspalaset ompelin käsin sopivaan sommitelmaan. Leikkasin tukevasta paperista suunnilleen sopivan taustan kankaalle, pehmustin pumpulilla ja liimasin kankaan taustaan ja koko paketin sohvaan. Varsin yksinkertaista. Eikun kokeilemaan toisenlaista mallia, jossa puupintaa ovat vain jalat.

And this is how it is done. I sew the patchwork by hand. I cut the template from sturdyish paper. I used cotton wool to make it comfy and glue to hold the fabric to the template and template to the sofa. Very simple I think. Next I wish to make a different sofa or maybe a chair.... Yay.

Punainen tuoli - Red chair

Hihii, tästä tuli tämmöinen. Minä nautin eniten tämmöisestä työskentelystä, kun lopputulos on täysi yllätys. Näitä on kiva tehdä, kun tuntuvat isoilta noiden sukkahommien ja virkkauksen rinnalla. Rouva kahvilan emäntä arvostaa kovasti ahkeruuttani. Ostolakko loppui... mutta nyt ostellaan vähän rauhallisemmin. Tämä nalle huusi päästä meille, tekijänä Bassom Bear. Hän tekee myös kauniita vähän isompia nalleja, pupuja, tipuja ja muita söpöläisiä.

Hehee, it turned out like this. I enjoy working like this when the result is a surprise. I like making wicker-things, it seems so big compared to crocheting and knitting the bloody socks. I know these could be made more delicately and tidily, but I like these just the same! The lady that owns the cafe appriciates my efforts a lot. I quit the shopping ban for now, but I promised to take it easy. This tiny teddybear just had to come live with me, from Bassom Bear. She makes also a bit bigger and equally adorable bears, bunnies and such.

SYS ja sukat - Secret friend and socks

Huh huh, urakka tuli tehdyksi, eli nuo villasukat. Aivan älytöntä hommaa sanon minä. Uusi tuoli on vielä hämähäkkivaiheessa, mutta siitä tulee tosiaan punainen. Valmiissa (vanhassa) tuolissa on mukava lötköttää martini-lasin kanssa, kun toiset paiskovat hommia... ;o). Drinksu tulee Everyday Gourmetista. Hameena toimii virkattu kolmiohuivi.

I finally finished the blasted socks. I also started a new chair, it looks like a spider now and it's going to be red. It's lovely to relax in the old chair with a martini and warm socks. The fabulous drink is from Everyday Gourmet. The crocheted shawl can be used as a skirt too it seems.

Korituoli - A chair

Meillä oli nukkekotikerho ja ai että oli kivaa! Kiitos seurasta kaikille ja erityisterveiset Sara-neidille, joka valmisti Aavan kanssa kauniita ystävänpäiväkortteja. Aiheena oli korikalusteet ja niin oli kiinnostavaa, että jatketaan samasta ensi kerrallakin. Minä sain tuolini valmiiksi vasta kotosalla ja yötöiden puolelle vilahti... ei vaan voinut jättää kesken. Istuintyyny on vain malliksi, ei ole tähän tuoliin tehty. Edessä olevat tyynyt ovat Lissun käsialaa.

We had a dolls' house club evening and it was so much fun! Thanks everybody and specially Sara, who made valentine's cards with Aava. We made wicker furniture and it was so interesting that we'll continue with these the next time too. I finished my chair at home and it took surprisingly long too... just could not go to sleep before I got it made. The cushion is not made for this, so it is not fitting too well. The pillows at the front are made by Lissu.
