Terveisiä sairastuvalta - Greetings from the infirmary

Täällä ollaan sairasteltu oikein olan takaa ja vuorotellen, influenssat ja poskiontelontulehdukset ja yskää on piisannut puolen Euroopan tarpeiksi. Alkaisi jo riittää. Tässä kuvassa tytär lämmittelee peiton alla.

We've been having chest colds and head colds and you name it taking turns for weeks now. We both feel that this is enough! Here my daughter is trying to stay warm under covers.


Minimaailmassa olen ollut läsnä lähinnä mattojen ja tyynyjen pistelyn merkeissä (mutta mitään ei ole viimeistelty, joten en vielä tekeleitäni kuvaa) ja ostelijana sekä upeiden lahjojen onnellisena saajana. Tässä hävyttömän huono kuva Tarun kauniista patsaasta ja kaakelista (Pirttiin) ja Mostly Artin maljakosta (näyttelytilaan).

I've worked with a couple of petit point rugs and pillows, but I have not finished anything so there are no photos. I've made some purchases too and received wonderful presents. Here are a charming little statue and tile from Taru and a wonderful vase from Mostly Art. I'm afraid the photo is less than perfect to say the least.


Piristykseksi ostimme yhtenä päivänä kukkia. Tässä tyttären valinta, tuoksuu ihanalta.

To cheer us up I bought us some flowers the other day. Here's my daughter's choise. The scent is luxurious.


Kai tässäkin haetaan piristystä ja iloa. Teimme tänään raakasuklaata. Oli kiva tutustua uusiin aineisiin, kaakaovoi on aika mahtavaa jööttiä esimerkiksi. Olen aika ylpeä, että koostumuksesta tuli heti ensimmäisellä kerralla (ja reseptiä vapaasti muokkaamalla) näinkin hyvä. On tottumista tämmöisellä pähkinämaitosuklaan syöjällä, mutta hyvää on. Huomasin, että vaniljaa tulee käyttää aivan tajuttomasti, jos haluaa että se maistuu.

I suppose this is to cheer us up too. We made "raw" chocolate for the first time today. I'm happy with the results considering I did it with my own twist, not following the recipe too faithfully. I need to get used to the flavour, but I do like it. Noticed also that if one wishes to taste the vanilla one must use huge amount of it.

Onnea Tiina! - Happy Birthday Tiina!

Osallistuin viime vuonna synttäriswappiin, josta suoriuduin kerrassaan ala-arvoisesti. Miltei kaikki lahjat olivat myöhässä. Tämä taitaa olla kaiken huippu, Tiinan synttärit olivat joulukuun puolivälissä ja lahja saapui tänään perille. Tämä olikin ainoa kuvaamani paketti. Kirjailin Tiinalle ruusutyynyn ja vähän kyllä jännitti, kun hän ei ole sellaista ruusutyyliä ollenkaan. Onneksi tulossa on jonkinlainen mummon asumus, jonne tämä sopii.

I took part in a birthday-swap last year and I was a horrible participant. Nearly every gift I sent late. This is the worst, I think, because Tiina had her birthday mid-December and she received her gift today. This is the only thing I photographed. I embroidered a rose pillow. She is making something for a granny and this might find a place there.

I'll tell about my dolls and houses, when I have the time to take some decent photos, I promise.

Ruusutyyny - Rosy pillow

Sopivia ruusukuvioita on ollut yllättävän vaikea löytää kirjailuhommiin, mutta tämä on odotellut jo jonkin aikaa toteutusta. Tämä oli jossain käsityölehdessä, ristipisto-ohje ruutuliinaa varten, mutta minä tein tästä puolipistoilla tyynyn. Hifistelin täyttämisessä, huhmaroin merisuolaa pienemmäksi ja puskin sitä sisään, jotta tyyny asettuu mukavasti. Nukke tykkää.

It's been surprisingly difficult to find suitable rose patterns to embroider, but this pattern has been waiting for a while to be made. It was a cross-stitch pattern, but I did it in petit point to make the pillow. I crushed some sea salt for the filling, to make the pillow sit better. My doll seems to appriciate.

Paperipaino - Paper weight

Keräilemme molemmat Pirtin asukin kera lasisia paperipainoja. Olen ostanut tuon perhosmallisen omaan kotiini Tallinnasta ja vihdoin löysin sopivan lasimollukan, jotta saatoin tehdä samantyyppisen myös Pirttiin. Tykkään kovasti.

We both collect glass paper weights, me and the lady from Pirtti. I found the butterfly-weight from Tallinn some time ago and now I found a suitable glass blob to make a miniature version for Pirtti, but with flowers. I like it very very much.

Uusia matskuja kokeilemassa - Trying new materials

Kokeilin punoa vahatusta pellavalangasta ja se onkin aivan ihana materiaali. Pikkuisessa kokeilukorissa sekä "loimet" että "kude" ovat samaa lankaa. Tällöin reunapunonnasta tulee kaunis ja tällä matskulla saan korin pysymään formussa ilman rautalankatukea. Huippua! Kuvassa myös emaloidut metallisuppilot Gracelta. Kauniita.

I tried weawing with thin waxed linen thread and I love the material. I could use it both for the stakes and weave and still keep the basket together. This way the border becomes nice. The enamelled funnels are by Grace of Honey and Bee and they are just gorgeous. There's a lovely sound of clicety-click if they bumb together.

Vieläkin tulee postista ihanuuksia... taidan olla aika ahne. Nämä posliiniset lumiukot tulevat kruunaamaan ensi joulun koristelumeiningit Pirtissä. Aivan käsittämättömän pienet ja täydelliset. Kuvista ei oikein voi hahmottaa noiden kokoa ja laatua, mutta tuossa ne lepäävät kämmenelläni, alemman kuvan ostoskassi on ihan normaalia 1/12 kokoa. Löytyivät täältä.



Last package of Christmas treasures arrived yesterday. These will sure be the focus of decorations at Pirtti next Christmas. Aren't they just amazing? Tiniest, the most perfect little porcelain snowmen. It's difficult to grasp the scale on the photos, but here they are, on my palm. The shopping bag there is ordinary size 1/12. I found these here, at the Creation Cottage.
